Welcome to the AGA Self-Assessment Module (SAM) on obesity. Originally authored in 2015, the content was reviewed in April 2020 and updated to match current scientific knowledge.
We’re excited to re-offer this very popular learning module for your use in studying and staying current. We believe SAMs represents a unique contribution to your continuing medical education.
Given the impact of the obesity epidemic and its complications on the American health scene, gastroenterologists are likely to find themselves increasingly engaged in contributing to the management of these patients. This module should serve all learners as a useful exercise for identifying any current knowledge gaps, and providing the resources for self-directed learning. The module questions were written in a boards-style format, with a high level of review for content and function and meet the ABIM standards to provide 5 MOC credits in medical knowledge toward the ABIM requirements in the Maintenance of Certification pathway. The module questions also serve to provide excellent practice for your board exam review in a focused, niche area of gastroenterology and internal medicine.
