Gastro Bites is a monthly series focusing the diagnosis, management, and treatment of GI conditions aligned with disease awareness months. We will host a live discussion on the third Thursday of every month at 12 pm EST. The recorded discussion will be available on AGAU.
According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 8,000–10,000 new cases of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA or bile duct cancer) are diagnosed in the U.S. every year. They are rare and represent about 3% of all gastrointestional cancers. Most people with CCA do not have symptoms until the disease reaches an advanced stage.
February's program will explore the following with expert faculty:
- Bile duct cancer classifications.
- Patient risk factors less frequently considered.
- Role of genetic testing.
- Treatment options beyond surgery and liver transplant.
