Overview
The 2024 AGA Principles of GI for the NP and PA OnDemand course consists of slides narrated by the course faculty via video and provides you with team-based expert guidance on managing GI patients through case-based learning. The course is designed to provide the highest quality, GI-specific education available to APPs and to cater to both experienced providers and those new to the field. The course will provide self-paced access to sessions in upper and lower GI disorders including EoE, IBD cases and IBD pharmacology, IBS, CRC screening, liver and pancreatic disease.

- Review pathophysiology and diagnostic criteria of EoE
- Explore current treatment algorithm and current guidelines for management of EoE

- Review definition and explore classifications of EGIDs

Workup and Management of Gastroparesis
- Discuss pathophysiology of gastroparesis

Colorectal Cancer Screening
- Review current colorectal screening guidelines
- Analyze and compare current screening modalities and quality indicators
- Understand screening and surveillance recommendations
IBS and Approaching Non-IBS Mimickers
- Review current treatment guidelines for diagnosis and management of IBS
- Discuss current treatment options for management of IBS (both pharmacological

- Discuss HRM interpretation for the evaluation and treatment of esophageal
- motility as well as fecal incontinence and chronic constipation
Management of Acute GI Bleed
- Evaluate appropriate methods for locating the source of bleeding
- and providing necessary care
Session 3 Management of Cirrhosis
- Compare and contrast modalities to diagnose cirrhosis (including non-invasive tests),
- when to refer to a transplant center and current issues in transplantation
Acute Liver Failure
- Assess presentation and treatment of acute liver failure, including self-care regimens
- and pharmacological management
A Evaluation of Abnormal LFTs
- Contrast acute and chronic etiologies of liver test abnormalities, providing a pragmatic
- approach to evaluation of lab interpretation for the GI APP
MAFLD and MASH
- Differentiate between MAFLD and MASH.
- Discuss current diagnostic techniques, including when (or not) to perform liver biopsy.
- Review non-pharmacologic (exercise/diet) and pharmacologic treatment options,
- including therapy that is under investigation
Screening and Management of HCC
Update on Liver Transplantation
- Discuss the consensus definitions of the most common colon cancer syndromes
- (FAP, HNPCC, etc.), when to suspect them, familial screening,
- and surveillance protocols
- Review the medical and ethical considerations in liver transplantation evaluation
