This workshop is designed to help fellows, early -career, and mid-career gastroenterologists navigate the financial and contractual complexities of private practice and private equity–affiliated groups. Faculty will break down compensation models, buy-in and buy-out pathways, ancillary revenue opportunities, and key contract terms — clarifying what to evaluate, when to negotiate, and how different structures impact long-term career and financial outcomes. 

AGA Career Development Workshops provide trainee and early career GIs with vital insights, skills, and advice for career advancement with education, not formally part of the trainee program curriculum.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Compare employment vs. partnership models and map buy-in timelines and valuation basics (what you’re buying, how it’s priced).
  2. Translate contract language into financial impact (comp formula, ancillaries, call pay, PTO) and identify red flags.
  3. Prepare a counter proposal that sequences asks (comp plan clarity, buy-in transparency, non-compete adjustments, tail coverage).
