Significant advances in duodenoscope design have occurred over the past two years to reduce infections due to design weaknesses and human error in scope reprocessing. These advances, however, represent a potential paradigm shift for clinicians and health care systems from a logistical and financial perspective. As technology advances to control duodenoscope-related infections, this program's objective is to provide comprehensive education for GIs and advanced practice providers (APPs) on duodenoscope-related infections including challenges, potential solutions, and key considerations in transitioning to innovative duodenoscope designs including disposable components and single-use duodenoscopes. This is the first of two webinars that reviews editorials written by experts on innovation in duodenoscope design. The program is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Boston Scientific.
