Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) is a disorder caused by the failure of the pancreas to deliver a minimum/threshold level of specific pancreatic digestive enzymes to the intestine, leading to the maldigestion of nutrients and macronutrients, resulting in their variable deficiencies.
During the initial discussion, speakers will share best practices for:
- Identifying when to suspect EPI.
- Diagnosing EPI: utilizing current testing methods effectively.
- Effective management strategies for EPI.
The latter half of the session will feature a product theater, sponsored by AbbVie Inc. This segment will offer an overview of EPI in chronic pancreatitis (CP), current EPI diagnostic tools and challenges faced in diagnosing EPI. Additionally, attendees will be introduced to a new digital clinical screening tool through a live demonstration. This tool is designed to assist clinicians in evaluating patients with definite CP at risk for EPI.
Learning objectives for the product theater:
Provide background information on EPI in CP.
Discuss current EPI diagnostic tools and challenges.
Introduce and provide a live demonstration of a new digital clinical screening tool that was developed to help clinicians evaluate patients with definite CP at a risk for EPI.
