Now in its 13th year, the 2023 AGA Tech Summit is the only event focused on fostering the development and adoption of GI technology. The Summit is where GI innovators, entrepreneurs, clinicians, medical technology companies, venture capitalists and regulatory agencies meet to identify opportunities in licensing, partnerships, and investment. Its objective is to conduct training, disseminate education and provide guidance that will help GI innovation and technology discoveries that improve patient care enter the marketplace.

Cancellation policy
A refund (less a $50 processing fee) will be given for cancellations received in writing on or before Friday, February 24, 2023. Please send any cancellation request to AGA Member Relations via email. member@gastro.org or call (301-941-2651).
No cancellations will be accepted for refunds on or after, Saturday, February 25, 2023. Refunds cannot be made for no shows.
COVID-19 policy
AGA Meeting policy will be based on current CDC recommendations and that of local [San Francisco] health authority guidelines.

AGA Shark Tank Pitch Competition
The Shark Tank Pitch Competition provides a platform to showcase your GI innovation idea, medical device, or technology. The top five applicants will be selected to pitch their innovations to a panel of expert judges. The winner will receive widespread promotion by AGA to the GI community, represent. AGA in the DDW 2023 Shark Tank. Finalists may be considered for the new GI Opportunity Fund established by AGA in partnership with Varia Ventures.

AGA Innovation Fellows Program
The AGA Innovation Fellows Program is where you can learn from physician innovators and entrepreneurs as well as medical technology executives on how new GI technologies are developed and brought to market. The program is open to GI Fellows) from U.S.-based institutions. Third year, fourth year and advanced endoscopy fellows are strongly encouraged to apply. If selected, you will receive:
- An exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Medtronic Innovation HQ on March 8.
- Complimentary registration, and travel and lodging for the 2023 AGA Tech Summit.
- Expert and industry led sessions on emerging GI innovation and technology issues.
- Networking opportunities with thought leaders in GI innovation and the medical device industry.
- Become part of a year-long cohort of AGA Innovation Fellows.

AGA Shark Tank Pitch Competition
The Shark Tank Pitch Competition provides a platform to showcase your GI innovation idea, medical device or technology. The top five applicants will be selected to pitch their innovations to a panel of expert judges. The winner will receive widespread promotion by the AGA and represent the AGA in the 2023 Digestive Disease Week® Shark Tank. The Shark Tank winner will undergo due diligence and be considered for the AGA GI Opportunity Fund, managed by Varia Ventures, a venture capital firm.

Virgo earns GI Opportunity Fund’s first investment
AGA announced on Dec. 1, 2023, that the association’s new venture capital fund, GI Opportunity Fund 1, completed its first investment, rounding out the Series A financing of Virgo Surgical Video Solutions (“Virgo”) of Carlsbad, California. Virgo provides GIs, clinical trial sponsors, and trial site investigators with AI-fueled, always-on endoscopic procedure recording and patient recruitment tools for clinical trials. “Virgo would not be where it is today without the support of the AGA, dating back to our initial pitch at the AGA Tech Summit’s Shark Tank competition in 2018,” said Matt Schwartz, Virgo co-founder and Chief Executive Officer.
